Judith Allison Lazar 1936-2024

YOUNGSTOWN — Judith Allison Lazar, 88, passed away peacefully, Saturday, June 22, 2024, at Hospice House.
Judith, affectionately known as Judy, was born April 25, 1936, in Youngstown, a daughter of the late Joseph Allison and Marian Arkwright Allison, and lived most of her life in the Mahoning Valley.
She attended Ursuline High School, Class of 1954.
Judy worked in the office at Tamarkin Co., Jenkins Sign Co., and later, Youngstown Developmental Center, from where she retired in 1998.
A devout member of St. Brendan Church, Judy’s faith was central to her life. She actively participated in various church ministries, including the Altar and Rosary Society and served as a Eucharistic minister, bringing communion to those in hospitals and nursing homes. She was also involved in the RCIA program, participated in Bible study groups and was a regular attendee of morning Mass. Her warm and welcoming smile made her a beloved “greeter” at Sunday Mass.
Judy leaves to forever cherish her memory, her husband and soulmate of 53 years, Sanford “Sonny” Lazar, whom she married Jan. 27, 1971; her daughter, Barbara Luther (Michael) Liptay of Huron; her three sons, David (Cindy) Luther of Howland, Michael (Vickie) Luther of Omaha, Nebraska, and Jeffrey Luther of Cortland; 13 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren, whom she loved dearly; three brothers, Joseph (Marsha) Allison of Poland, James (Judy) Allison of Canfield and Mark (Wendy) Allison of Canfield; a sister, Marian (Jeff) Schwarm of Girard; two stepchildren, Jaye (Warren) Usui and Norman (Brenda) Lazar, both of California; many nieces, nephews and extended family members; and many, many friends.
Judy was preceded in death by two sons, Patrick and James Luther; a brother, William Allison; and two sisters, Joyce Luther and Angela Rodney
Family and friends may call 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, June 26, 2024, at Kinnick Funeral Home, 477 N. Meridian Road, Youngstown.
Funeral services will begin at 10:15 a.m. Thursday, June 27, 2024, at the funeral home, and continue with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. at St. Brendan Church, 2800 Oakwood Ave., Youngstown.
Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery in Youngstown.
In lieu of flowers, Judy’s family suggests memorial contributions be made to St. Brendan Church Memorial Fund, in Judy’s name.
