Joseph F. Fusillo 1942-2024

BOARDMAN — On Saturday, June 15, 2024, Joseph Frank Fusillo, 81, passed away at St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital.

He was born July 6, 1942, in Youngstown, to Joseph Fusillo and Jean Morgia Fusillo. Joseph was a 1961 graduate of East High School. He was the former Fusillo Tile & Stone and the Vista Lounge owner. Joseph also retired from General Motors.

Joe’s love for his family was unwavering. He found joy in the simple things in life: being outdoors, gardening, fishing and hunting. His family was his world. He cherished the moments spent together, whether having cookouts, entertaining or attending his grandkids’ sporting events.

One of Joe’s favorite places was his cabin in Tionesta, Pa., where he spent many cherished years with his siblings, nieces, nephews and family. The cabin was a place of camaraderie and connection, filled with laughter and shared stories.

He was a proud veteran who served in the United States Army stationed in Germany. He often shared stories of his time there and held great pride in his service. His patriotism was evident in the way he proudly flew his flag.

Joe is survived by his wife of 55 years, Clara Pellegrini Fusillo; children, Deanna (Jason) Hinsz of DeLand, Florida, Joseph A. (Melina) Fusillo of Canfield and Kim (Steve) Turek of Naples, Florida; siblings, JoAnne Savko, Catherine Tankovich, Mary Miller and Louis (Karen) Fusillo; grandchildren, Julian and Sarah Fusillo, Kenna Silvestri, Pete Hernandez, Alex Hernandez, Ethan Turek, Alyssa Turek, Tifani (Matt) Krenz, Gage (Andria) Hinsz and Huck (Leilani) Hinsz; great-grandchildren, Micah and Judah Fusillo, Sebastian and Cleo Silvestri, and Hendrix and Rocko Hinsz; along with many nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, Joseph was preceded in death by his siblings, Tony Fusillo, Frank Fusillo, Victor Fusillo, Matthew Fusillo, Tommy Fusillo, Michael Fusillo, Angeline Beshara, Mildred Santagelo and Bernadette Ezzo.

A private family service has taken place.
