William M. Marcavish 1946-2024
LIBERTY TOWNSHIP — William M. Marcavish, 77, of Liberty Township passed away Sunday afternoon, May 12, 2024, at St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital with his son by his side.
Mr. Marcavish was born Thursday, May 30, 1946, in Nu Mine, Pa., a son of William and Velma Oakley Marcavish, coming to the Youngstown community as a child.
He was a member of Insulators Union Local for over 32 years, retiring in 2003.
Mr. Marcavish loved to spend time outdoors as evident by his cabin in the Allegheny Mountains, Mill Creek Park and Mosquito Lake State Park.
He graduated from South High School and attended Youngstown State University, enjoyed fishing, was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan, especially loved his son’s dog Blackjack and loved his numerous black Labrador retrievers.
He was a United States Army veteran.
He leaves to cherish his memory, sons, Max of Liberty Township and Ian (Christine) of Charlotte, North Carolina; sister, Carol (Tom) Veauthier of Fayetteville, North Carolina; grandchildren, Emily and Alex Marcavish; former daughter-in-law Laura Marcavish; and his caring neighbors, Patrick and Cathy.
Mr. Marcavish was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, the former Mary Margaret “Peggy” Nelson, whom he married in 1992 and passed away Oct. 15, 2023.
The family will receive relatives and friends from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, May 19, 2024, at The McCauley Funeral Home.
