Robert R. Amendolea 1930-2024

YOUNGSTOWN — Robert R. Amendolea, 93, passed away peacefully Tuesday, April 30, 2024, surrounded by his loving family.

Robert was born July 20, 1930, in Youngstown, the son of Bruno and Barbara Bell Amendolea. He courageously served his country in the U.S. Air Force, as a staff sergeant and radio operator for the 19th bombardment during the Korean Conflict.

Robert worked as a painter for most of his life and was the owner and operator of a television repair service. He was a member of St. Luke Church and their Holy Name Society. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus. He was an avid golfer and played in local golf and bowling leagues. His greatest joy was spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

His wife, the former Bettijayne Niles, whom he married July 16, 1960, passed away June 23, 1997.

He is survived by three children, Bobby Bruno (Debbie) Amendolea, Patty Amendolea and Sherry (Vince) Calabrette; six grandchildren, Tyler, Hunter and Luciano Amendolea, Parker and Seth Flower, and Noah Calabrette; three grand dogs, Ginger, Dale and Bruno; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a sister, Rita Spotleson; and three brothers, Victor, Richard and Silvio Amendolea.

The family will receive relatives and friends from 10 a.m. to noon Monday, May 6, 2024, at the Rossi Brothers and Lellio Funeral Home, 4442 South Ave., Boardman, with a funeral service immediately to follow.

Interment will take place in Calvary Cemetery, where Robert’s dedicated service to our country will be further honored by the great men of V.F.W. Post 9571 of Ellsworth.
