Karen C. Blanchard 1956-2024

CANFIELD — Karen C. Blanchard, a loving wife, mother and grandmother, passed away Thursday, May 2, 2024, at Austintown Healthcare Center.

She was born July 6, 1956, in McKeesport, Pa., the daughter of John R. Ross and Sally J. Pennington.

After Karen received a Bachelor of Science degree from Illinois State University in 1991, she went on to dedicate her life to helping others for many years. As a medical technician, she worked in various institutions, starting with Northside Hospital, then to St. Elizabeth Hospital and, lastly, Canfield Industries. Not only was Karen a kind-hearted and caring soul in her career, but she proved to be this way with the ones she loved as well. She was seen as the glue of the family, always looking out for her loved ones.

Karen is survived by her father, John R. Ross; beloved husband, Larry Blanchard; devoted sons, Josh Blanchard and Brandon Blanchard of Austintown; loving daughter, Kara Blanchard of Austintown; caring brothers, John F. Ross and Val (Nikki) Ross of Glassport, Pa.; supportive sisters, Patty (Bill) Kiser and Amy (Robert) Deliman of Glassport, Pa.; as well as her adored grandson, Tyler D. Blanchard.

In her free time, Karen found solace in tending to her garden, where she lovingly nurtured and admired her blooming flowers. Her garden was not just a place of beauty, but also a reflection of the care and attention she poured into everything she touched. She loved spending time with, and laughing with, her best friend and only daughter, Kara. She also invested her endless love and vital energy into her grandson, Tyler, whom she loved very dearly.

As we mourn the loss of Karen from our lives, we also celebrate the incredible legacy of love, kindness and compassion that she leaves behind. May her memory continue to live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to have known her. Karen will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by all who knew her.
