Anna Mae Bailey 1934-2024

CANFIELD — Anna Mae Bailey, 89, passed away Tuesday, May 21, 2024, at Hospice of the Valley in Poland, surrounded by her loving family. She was born Nov. 3, 1934, in Glen Campbell, Pa., to the late Andrew Freno and Anna Goydich Freno.

Anna was a 1952 graduate of Arcadia High School and married her late husband, Samuel B. Bailey, whom she met in high school, July 9, 1955. They spent close to 50 years together before his passing in April 2005.

Anna was a homemaker, spending her days caring for her children and creating memories with her family.

Anna was a member of St. Christine Church and loved traveling, vacationing with family, puzzles, playing cards and going to the casino, but her biggest joy in the world was spending time with her family and hosting holiday dinners.

Anna leaves behind to cherish her memory, her children, Bernadette Benyak, Judy (Louis) Samuel, Rick Bailey, Rodney (Dawn) Bailey and Julie (Michael) McCue; grandkids, Elizabeth (Mark), Devin, Dilen (Gianna), Samantha Jo (Justin), Sean (Chelsie), Jordan, Baylee and Jayden; and siblings, Jenny Zimnicki, Robert Freno, and Betty (Tom) Mattis; as well as five great-grandchildren.

Anna was preceded in death by her late husband; her parents; and siblings, Christine Kazanowski, Edna Fanco, Dorothy Freno, John Freno and Andrew Freno.

Family and friends may call 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, May 23, 2024, at Lane Funeral Home – Austintown Chapel, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. Friday, May 24, 2024, at St. Christine Roman Catholic Church, 3165 S. Schenley Ave., Youngstown, OH 44511.

Interment will be in Resurrection Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests making a donation to Hospice of The Valley Youngstown, in Anna’s name.
