Norman S. Spiker 1940-2023

COLUMBIANA — Norman Scott Spiker, beloved husband, 83, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 12, 2023, at St. Elizabeth Boardman Hospital.

He was born June 29, 1940, in Salem, a son of the late Raymond and Mary Knauf Spiker.

Norm was a Columbiana High School graduate and began his career by working for his father, later owning and operating Spiker Heating Inc., Columbiana. He was a proud lifetime member of the Boy Scouts of America, where he was currently serving as treasurer for Troop 18. Growing up as a Boy Scout, Norm obtained both the Eagle Scout and Silver Beaver rank. He was a longtime member of the Columbiana Historical Society and loved antiquing. He had many different collections, including Boy Scout memorabilia, matchboxes, Marble’s knives and axes, as well as antique milk bottles.

Norm enjoyed following the stock market, spending time outdoors and taking trips to the hunting camp in West Virginia; however, his greatest legacy will always be the lives he touched as a husband, uncle, friend and as a scout. The counsel he provided to scouts over the years enabled those individuals to be the best they could be, wherever life took them.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Patricia “Patty” McHugh Spiker, whom he married April 23, 1988; brother, Dr. Duane (Linda) Spiker of Pittsburgh, Pa.; several nieces and nephews; and many cousins.

He was preceded in death by an infant brother.

The family will receive friends 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday, April 27, 2024, at the Warrick-Kummer-Rettig Funeral Home, Columbiana.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, at the funeral home, with Pastor Kari Lankford officiating.

Burial will take place in Columbiana Cemetery.

Memorial donations may be made in Norm’s memory to Boy Scout Troop 18, 626 Pittsburgh St., Columbiana, OH 44408.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Warrick-Kummer-Rettig Funeral Home, Columbiana. Family and friends may view this obituary and send condolences at www.familycareservices.com.
