Tina M. Rodgers 1959-2024

LOWELLVILLE — Tina Marie Rodgers, 64, passed away Wednesday, March 13, 2024, at Shepherd of the Valley in Boardman after a long illness.

With a mouth like a sailor and a heart of gold, Tina loved everyone in her life and considered them all family, whether they were related or not.

Tina was born Oct. 2, 1959, at Sharon Regional Hospital in Pennsylvania, to Donald L. Garrett and Nancy Lee Crider Garrett. Tina graduated from Lowellville High School in 1979.

Throughout her life, Tina worked various jobs in the restaurant business, most recently at Morgan Oil. She will always be remembered for her generosity and giving nature.

Tina had a passion for crafts and spent many hours making flower arrangements for family events. She also painted ceramics, would bake for everyone and enjoyed bingo, the casino, and scratch-off lottery tickets, where she was very lucky more than once.

Tina was a loving wife, sister, aunt and friend. She is survived by her sister, Cheryl (Bill) Burrows of Lowellville; brothers, Robert (Lindsey) Garrett of Campbell and Brian (Roberta) Garrett of Struthers; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews; and all of her family in Edinburg and “up North.”

Tina most recently resided in the Lowellville Park apartments, and she adored the friends she made there, especially Sue, Annie, Mike, Rosie and Sandra. Her favorite thing was coffee with the girls. Though Tina never had children of her own, she loved all of her nieces and nephews as though they were her own, and kept every card, gift, memento and picture that was ever given to her. She held a special place in her heart for her three great-nieces, Julie, Joanna and Kennedy “Boog,” whom she called “her girls.”

Besides her parents, Tina was preceded in death by her husband, Robert “Slim” Rodgers.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt appreciation and thanks to the wonderful staff of Shepherd of the Valley in Boardman and Hospice of the Valley for their kindness and compassion in helping to take care of Tina in the last month. They went above and beyond for not only Tina but also for the family.

A graveside service will be 1 p.m. Monday, March 25, 2024, at Brookfield Cemetery, where she will be laid to rest with her parents.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Davidson-Becker Funeral Home in Struthers. Please visit www.beckerobits.com to send the family condolences.
