Ronald S. Thornton 1943-2024

YOUNGSTOWN — Mr. Ronald S. Thornton, 80, entered eternal rest, Friday, March 1, 2024, at Park Center Health Center and Rehabilitation.
Mr. Thornton was born Sept. 1, 1943, in Youngstown, a son of Percy Sr. and Alberta Lee Thornton. He was a certified heavy equipment operator and was employed by Operating Engineers Local #66. He also attended New Castle School of Trades for Auto Body Repair and had been employed with U. S. Steel for two years.
He was a member of Free Gospel Ministries, its maintenance and bus ministry and attended Bible study. Ronald was a member of Operating Engineers Local 66. He enjoyed auto mechanics, carpentry, cowboy movies, country music and was an avid Cleveland Browns fan. His true passion was being with his beloved family.
He was a U. S. Navy veteran
He leaves to cherish his memory and celebrate his life and legacy, his wife, the former Barbara Langley, whom he married in 1980; children, Tiffany (Isaiah) Thornton-Jay and Todd Thornton both of Dallas, Texas; and Tanica Thornton of Youngstown; his sister, Laura Thornton Brady; grandchildren, Patrice D. Thornton, Todd S. Thornton Jr., Stevenson Thornton, Dominique Thornton and Jasheia Thornton; great-granddaughter, Christanne Giselle Thornton; and a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, family and friends.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Percy Thornton Jr.; great-grandson, Sterling C. Mayes; and brother-in-law, Matthew Brady.
Visitation will be 11 a.m. to noon, Friday, March 15, 2024, L. E. Black, Phillips & Holden Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at noon. Guests can choose to wear masks.
