Roger C. Paroz 1936-2024

BROOKFIELD — Roger C. Paroz, 88, passed away peacefully with his family by his side, Friday, March 22, 2024.

Roger was born to Henri and Lena Paroz, on March 1, 1936, and graduated from Hubbard High School in 1954.

He attended Devry Technical School in Chicago, worked part-time at Marshall Fields department store and belonged to the chorale.

Roger was drafted into the Army in 1956 and spent time at Fort Monmouth, where he played football. After his first stint in the Army, he moved to California, where he attended Cal Poly and played football and golf. His college career was cut short when recalled in 1961 and stationed in Hawaii. After his second round in the Army, he moved back to Hubbard and graduated from Youngstown College.

His first teaching job was in Hubbard. He attended Westminster College and earned his master’s degree, becoming principal at Hartford Elementary school for many years before his retirement. Roger then graduated from The University of Akron School of Law and was a self-employed attorney for 30 years.

Roger, Rog, Paukie, Mr. Paroz, whatever you called him, you loved him. His life was full of love for everyone he met. His kindness was felt and reciprocated by all.

Roger will be lovingly remembered by his family: his wife, his sweetheart, Janice Ann Bartko, whom he married July 30, 1966, sharing an amazing 57 years that he cherished; and his children, Marlis (Jim) Goske of Boardman, George (Gina) Paroz of Vienna and Rena (Kevin) Goldberg of Lordstown. His greatest loves were his three grandchildren, Jimmy and Cami Goske, and Sydney Paroz. He never missed a sporting event or activity that they were involved in, even traveling a great distance to watch them. He also leaves his sisters-in-law, Carol Paroz, Betty Jane Paroz and Maryann Bartko; a cousin, Marie Marlis Miller; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, Roger was preceded in death by his mother-in-law, Katherine Bartko; father-in-law, George Bartko; brothers, Bob Paroz and Paul Paroz; and brother-in-law, Jerry Bartko.

A celebration of life will take place 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, April 19, 2024, at Yankee Run Golf Course, 7610 Warren Sharon Road, Brookfield. Roger was an avid golfer and animal lover.
