Loretta J. Barth 1949-2024
BROOKFIELD — Loretta J. Barth, 74, passed away on Wednesday, Feb. 28, 2024 at St. Joseph Warren Hospital, after a courageous five-year battle with cancer.
Loretta was born April 17, 1949, in Youngstown, the daughter of George E. and Grace M. Drummond Graham.
She attended Wilson High School and Youngstown State University. She enjoyed helping people through her work at Sojourner House and then as the coordinator of community services at the Help Hotline Crisis Center. Loretta had many interests including photography, animals, reading, movies and music. She had an excellent singing voice and Maria Callas and Joni Mitchell were her favorite singers. Her family feels that this Joni Mitchell quote reflects Loretta’s spirit, as they remember her from her younger days, “We are stardust, we are golden and we’ve got to get back to the garden.”
She will be fondly remembered and sadly missed by her family; her life partner, Jeffrey Wittenauer of Brookfield; and her cousins, Dianne LoGuidice, Jean Casey, Edward Phelan and James Phelan.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
Memorial contributions may be made, in Loretta’s memory, to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105; or Animal Welfare League of Trumbull County, P.O. Box 66, Vienna, OH 44473.
Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the care of Stewart-Kyle Funeral Home. Family and friends are invited to visit the funeral home’s website at www.stewart-kyle.com to share memories and condolences.
