Carmen F. Lamancusa 1940-2024

NEW CASTLE, Pa. — Carmen F. Lamancusa, Esquire, 83, died peacefully at his home and surrounded by his family, Wednesday evening, March 20, 2024.

He was born Oct. 21, 1940, on the South Side of New Castle, the son of the late Frank and Antonia Lamancusa, and the brother of the late Dr. Nancy Lamancusa. Attorney Lamancusa married the love of his life, Loretta Lalama Lamancusa, on July 28, 1962.

Attorney Lamancusa was a graduate of New Castle High School, ’58; the University of Miami, Florida, ’62; and Case Western Reserve University School of Law, ’67. He practiced law for 57 years throughout Western Pennsylvania and Eastern Ohio as a member of the Pennsylvania, Ohio and Federal Bar associations. He was a lifelong member of St. Vitus Church, Holy Spirit Parish, and held various parish leadership roles.

Attorney Lamancusa lived a life of service to his family, his church and his community. Throughout his legal career, he was a zealous advocate and often fought for those who could not fight for themselves. He was a lifelong learner and was passionate about baseball and history.

He previously served as president of the Lawrence County Bar Association and was a member of the American Trial Lawyers Association and Pennsylvania Trial Lawyers Association. He served on the disciplinary board of the Pennsylvania Bar Association and was a board member of First Seneca Bank, St. Francis Hospital and the Pennsylvania Association of the Blind. Attorney Lamancusa mentored local young attorneys and law students at Case Western Reserve University.

Attorney Lamancusa is survived by Loretta, his wife of nearly 62 years; his children, Frank Lamancusa and his wife, Libby, Laurel Logsdon and Joshua Lamancusa and his wife, Heidi; and 10 grandchildren, Carmen, Alexandra, Cecelia, Claire, Lily, John, Charlotte, Kennedy, Sophia and Ava.

Visitation will be 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday, at the Ed & Don DeCarbo Funeral Home & Crematory, 941 S. Mill St.

A procession will leave the funeral home at 10 a.m. Monday for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m., at Holy Spirit Parish, St. Vitus Church. Father Joseph McCaffrey, pastor, will officiate.

Entombment will be in Parkside Mausoleum.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
