Susan L. Lewis 1950-2024
NEW MIDDLETOWN — Susan L. Lewis passed away Thursday, Feb. 1, 2024, at the age of 73, surrounded by family.
Born April 11, 1950, in Wheeling, W.Va. Susan was a woman of great humor and love, whose life was a testament to the power of family and the simplicity of happiness found in everyday moments.
A graduate of Springfield Local High School, Susan’s life was characterized by her dedication to her loved ones and her passion for the simple pleasures in life. She was known for her sense of humor and the care she took in maintaining her home, and treasures discovered at garage sales. Susan’s love for cleaning was not just about keeping a tidy house, but about creating a warm and inviting space where family and friends could gather and make memories.
Susan leaves behind her husband, Kermit Lewis, of 53 years. For those who knew them, their relationship, centered in humor, was the epitome of “Can’t live with’em can’t live without’em,” laughing and fighting till the very end.
Susan was a loving mother to her son, Charles Lewis of New Middletown; and her daughters, Jennifer Posta and Diana (Rick) Mullen, both of New Springfield. Her role as a grandmother “Grandma Jelly” was one she embraced with every ounce of her being, taking profound pride and joy in her six grandchildren, Madison, Jacey, Cameron, Karigan, Gavin and Brady; and her legacy of laughter (and sarcasm) will live on through them.
She was a beloved sister to Ronnie Clow, Robert (Dorothy) Clow, Sandy Hixson, Sharon (Tim) Pink and Tom (Cheri) Clow. Her presence will be deeply missed but fondly remembered by her siblings.
Susan was preceded in death by her parents, George and Rose Clow; and her brothers, Dale, George, Dave and Gary Clow. Her departure marks a reunion with those she missed dearly, especially her sister and best friend, Shirley K. Lewis. The knowledge of this brings comfort to those she has left behind.
In remembering Susan, her sense of humor was a gift that she shared generously, brightening the days of all who knew her. Her life was a daily demonstration of what it means to cherish every moment and to find joy in the company of those we hold dear. As we say goodbye to Susan L. Lewis, we celebrate a life well-lived, full of the moments that truly matter. Her spirit remains an everlasting reminder to love deeply, laugh often, and treasure the time we have with one another; “love you more.”
The family will host a small celebration of life this spring and plant a tree, as per Susan’s wishes.
