Barry Schecht 1936-2024

WARREN — Barry Ronald Schecht, beloved husband, father, father-in-law, brother, brother-in-law, cousin, son and friend, passed away peacefully, Friday, Feb. 23, 2024, surrounded by his wife and loved ones.

Barry was the son of Max and Helene Schecht, born June 28, 1936, in Newark, New Jersey. He was an only child until seven years later, when his baby brother, Robert Schecht, was born.

He was a well-dressed, debonair man. He owned several men’s clothing stores in Cleveland, Youngstown and Sharon, Pa. He enlisted his children to star in his personally written commercials that made him a local celebrity. One of his noteworthy commercials had him playing pool against a poodle — another with him clad in only boxers and a suit jacket. He was great dancer, fond of limericks and jokes. He would laugh so hard that he cried. He would hum when he ate particularly tasty culinary delights. He looked forward to planning and traveling to amazing places with his brother and sister-in-law, best friends, Bob and Rita Kalmore.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Sheila, of 64 years; his daughter, Jacci Kogan (Neil); son, Howard Schecht (Marla); brother, Robert Schecht (Cinde); grandchildren, Michael Pinhasi (Amy Yoder), Alexandra Pinhasi, Jessica Schecht, Sami Schecht, Brittany Schecht (Daniel Cavese); and many cousins and friends.
