CANFIELD — Mary E. Emery, 100, passed away early Saturday morning, Jan. 13, 2024, at her residence.
Mary was born Nov. 9, 1923, in Youngstown, the only child born to the late Peter J. and Rosalie McElroy Flynn. She lived most of her life in this area, attending The Rayen School, but had also lived in Pittsburgh and Florida.
Mary traveled extensively with her husband, including the Grand Canyon, Haiti, Europe and Italy. Italy was probably her favorite place of all her travels. She was an avid QVC shopper and looked forward to going to lunch with friends.
Mary was very outspoken and headstrong and was able to live independently until several months prior to her 100th birthday.
Her husband, Raymond G. Emery, whom she married Oct. 18, 1947, passed away Jan. 7, 1996.
Mary leaves her son, Raymond Rush and daughter-in-law, Connie of Hartville; a granddaughter, Elizabeth Mary Rush of Poland; a beloved cousin, Rosemary Robinson of Boardman; and many friends and family who will dearly miss her.
Besides her parents and her husband, Mary was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Rebecca Rush.
The family would like to give a special thanks to Tom and the rest of the care team of Akeso Home Hospice.
There will be no services or calling hours, per Mary’s request.
The family requests material tributes take the form of contributions to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 502 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
