Dolores V. Johnson 1927-2024

COLUMBIANA — Dolores Virginia Johnson, 96, died Tuesday afternoon, Jan. 23, 2024, at Covington Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation.
Dolores, affectionately known as “Dee,” was born June 25, 1927, in Youngstown, a daughter of Joseph and Gabriella Mestrovic Toth.
Raised in Youngstown, she was a graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School. On Sept. 3, 1949, Dolores married Albert “Glenn” Johnson and they celebrated 67 years of marriage before Glenn’s passing on April 7, 2017. In the beginning of their marriage, Mrs. Johnson worked for First Federal Bank until becoming a dedicated homemaker, wife and mother. In later years, she enjoyed volunteering at Southside Hospital.
Dolores, along with her husband, were longtime members of Heritage Presbyterian Church. In her leisure time, she enjoyed reading and doing all types of puzzles.
She is survived by her children, Lynda (James) Armstrong of New Waterford and Brad (Julie) Johnson of Lakewood, Colorado; three grandchildren, Craig Armstrong of Taylorsville, Utah, and Derek Johnson and Cole Johnson, both of Lakewood, Colorado; three great-grandchildren, Kelli (Kyle) Threm of Savannah, Georgia, and Paige (Kyle) Melton and Tyler McKenna, both of of Blythe, Georgia; three great-great-grandchildren, Blakely Fitzgerald, Greyson Threm and Jackson Threm; sister-in-law, Clarice Bates of Columbiana; and granddaughter-in-law, Kerin Armstrong of Georgia.
In addition to her parents and husband, Dolores was preceded in death by her siblings, Donna Round, Albert Toth, Josephine Darvis, Irene Baron, Eleanor Mook, Emma Krasnasky, William Toth and Daniel “Bobby” Toth; and her grandson, Scott Armstrong.
A funeral service for family and friends will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 27, 2024, at the Lake Park Cemetery Chapel, 1459 E. Midlothian Blvd., Youngstown. Following the service, all guests are welcome to join the family for a lunch reception at Stonebridge Grille & Tavern, 1497 Boardman-Canfield Road, Boardman, OH 44512.
Memorial tributes may take the form of contributions in Mrs. Johnson’s name to SouthernCare Hospice, 5401 Ashley Circle, Youngstown, OH 44515.
