Philip M. Zell 1961-2023

YOUNGSTOWN — Philip Mark Zell, 62, unexpectedly passed away at his home, Sunday, Dec. 10, 2023.

Philip was born Jan. 16, 1961, in Boardman, to Gertrude Patton Zell and Philip L. Zell. After graduating from Boardman High School in 1979, he went on to join the U.S. Army and served in South Korea. Upon his return home, Philip used his skills to become a tradesman, proficient in all trades.

Philip had a deep affection for nature and fishing, and he made sure to pass on his love for the outdoors to his children by taking them on regular camping trips during their younger years.

Philip is survived by his parents, Gert and Phil; stepmother, Paula; sister, Kathleen (Robert) Marcus; children, Philip S. Zell, Rochelle Zell and Corey (Amanda) Zell; granddaughter, Peyton Zell; and extended family and friends who mourn his loss.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Karen Spatara.

There will be a service in his honor, 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 23, 2023, at St. Charles Borromeo Church, Boardman. Visitation will be held 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. Saturday in the day chapel at the church.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests those who wish to express sympathy consider making a donation to Veterans’ Outreach, in Philip’s name. Donations can be sent to 17 Colonial Drive, Youngstown, OH 44505.
