Harry ‘Scott’ Braman Jr. 1949-2023

THE VILLAGES, Fla. -- Harry "Scott" Braman Jr. departed this life, Monday, Oct. 30, 2023, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Scott was born Sept. 10, 1949, a son of Jean and Harry "Skip" Braman. Scott graduated from Poland Seminary High School in 1968 before being drafted into the USAF. He served in combat in Vietnam.

After returning, he went to and graduated from YSU with a bachelor's degree in accounting.

Scott retired as an accountant for the city of Sarasota, Florida.

Scott loved to travel and was lucky enough to see the Pope give Easter service in Rome. He was also an avid athlete, swimming, biking, and playing tennis, pickleball and golf. Scott got a hole-in-one at one of The Villages golf courses where he lived.

He leaves a son, Eric Braman of Indiana; his Bengal cat, Asha; brother, Mark (Sheila); and sisters, Mary Ellen (Bruce) Barnhizer and Kathy (Robert) Young. He also leaves three nieces, three nephews, three great-nieces and six great-nephews.

We would like to thank Scott's very dear friend, Elizabeth Brown, who traveled with Scott and took him to his many doctor's appointments; Joyce Thompson, who cared for his cat when he couldn't; the VA hospital in Gainesville; and Cornerstone Hospice in The Villages, who took care of him in his final days.

A military service will take place in April at Bushnell Veterans Cemetery, Bushnell, Florida.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Scott's name to a veterans outreach program of your choice or to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
