Barbara L. Wilford 1951-2023

NORTH RIDGEVILLE — Dr. Barbara L. Morrison Wilford, 72, passed away peacefully with her family by her side Tuesday, Oct. 3, 2023, at St. John Medical Center in Westlake.

She was born Feb. 4, 1951, in Columbus and had been a resident of North Ridgeville for the past 47 years, moving from Youngstown.

Barbara graduated from Ursuline High School in 1969. She received her first nursing degree at St. John College in 1972. She collected additional degrees from Case and Baldwin Wallace, and finally received her DNP of nursing from Case Western Reserve University in 2017.

Barbara was an accomplished nurse and professor of nursing at LCCC, Ashland and Xavier University. Helping, caring and teaching countless people in her life. She loved to care for people and gave her time freely if ever anyone needed it.

She was a member of St. Clarence Church in North Olmsted.

Barbara enjoyed traveling, sewing and doing research.

She loved her husband and children more than anything and supported them all. She was immensely proud of her family and leaves behind nothing but beautiful memories.

She is survived by her husband of 49 years, Bruce; children, Brett (Crystal) Wilford of Parker, Colorado, Bryce (Danielle) Wilford of Elyria and Bryn (Brandon) Schafer of Medina; grandchildren, David, Hannah, Madison, Kaleb, Brendan, Keegan and Gavin; great-grandchild, Killian; sisters, Suzanne (Alfred) Fleming of Youngstown, Madonna (Paul) Alexander of Columbus and Ruth Morrison of Columbus; brother, Robert (Sherry) Morrison of Sterling Heights, Michigan; and many nieces and nephews.

Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Kathlyn Busher Morrison; stepmother, Madonna Bove Morrison; brother, Frank Morrison; and sister, Betsy Jane Pesce.

The family will receive friends 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at the Bogner Family Funeral Home, 36625 Center Ridge Road, North Ridgeville. A prayer service will begin 9:15 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at St. Clarence Church, 30106 Lorain Road, North Olmsted. The Rev. Neil Kookoothe will officiate.

Interment will be private.
