Joan E. Petrosky 1951-2023

She was born in Warren on May 15, 1951, the daughter of Joseph L. and Elizabeth “Betty” Kravec Petrosky.

Joan was a 1969 graduate of John F. Kennedy High School, received her Bachelor of Science degree in education from Bowling Green University and a Master of Arts degree in history from the University of Maryland.

During her career, She taught junior and senior high school in Ohio and in Maryland. After retiring from the teaching profession, she was caregiver for her parents. Joan was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Mineral Ridge and enjoyed counting cross stitch, playing Scrabble and reading, especially the subjects of history and English.

Joan was preceded in death by her father and mother, and is survived by three brothers, Kenneth (Sharon) Petrosky of Severna Park, Maryland, Richard (DeOnne) Petrosky of Gold Canyon, Arizona and Gary (Mary) Petrosky of Crofton, Maryland; and four nephews.

Calling hours will be from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. Monday, Sept. 18, 2023, at the Holeton-Yuhasz Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10 a.m. Monday, at St. Mary Church in Mineral Ridge. The Rev. Richard Murphy will be the celebrant. Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the Valley or Warren Family Mission.
