Jack C. Jones Jr. 1967-2023

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. — Jack C. “Jacky” Jones Jr., of Bloomington, Indiana, passed away peacefully on Friday, Sept. 15, 2023, at the Indiana University Health hospital, with family by his side.

He was born May 31, 1967, in Youngstown, the son of Jack and Rose Murphy Jones.

Jack was a 1985 graduate of Springfield Local High School, Petersburg. He went to achieve a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from Youngstown State University in Youngstown in 1990.

He was employed as a mechanical engineer for Naval Air Warfare Center, Aircraft Division in Indianapolis, Indiana, Naval Ordnance Test Unit and Special Projects – Flight, both in Cape Canaveral, Florida and Naval Surface Warfare Center Crane in Crane, Indiana, working the whole time on the Trident Missile Program.

Jack was raised in the Catholic faith. He was a beloved uncle and godfather, and his mechanically inclined mind and work ethic will be missed. He enjoyed reading or listening to sci-fi, comic books and visiting his favorite place on earth, Disney World.

Jack is survived by his sister, Christina Jones Baker married to Jeff Baker of Carrollton, Virginia; nephew, Drew Baker; and niece and god-daughter, Ashlyn Baker; his brother, Ted Jones and wife, Lynn Jones of Moon Township, Pa.; and nephews, Peyton Jones, Juston Jones and Caleb Jones.

He was preceded in death by his father; his mother; and his beloved dog, Indy.

No memorial service will be held.

The family requests that material contributions be made, in Jack’s memory, to the Springfield Local School Systems, in New Middletown, Ohio meal program, for families that have trouble paying.
