Theodis Williams 1939-2023

YOUNGSTOWN — Deacon Theodis Williams of Youngstown went to his heavenly home with the Lord on Friday, Aug. 4, 2023.

Deacon Williams, affectionately known as “Ted or Teddy”, was born Feb. 14, 1939, in Valdosta, Georgia, a son of Emmanuel and Rebekah Daniels Williams. He was the baby boy of 16 children.

Deacon Williams worked at U.S. Steel, then General Motors Lordstown as an assembler and became the head of his team. He had many accomplishments for suggestions which GM implemented in their systems and paid him for his ideas. Deacon Williams worked for GM for over 43 years.

Deacon Williams visited Bright Star C.O.G.I.C., but he and his family became faithful and dedicated members of Nevels Temple C.O.G.I.C. for 48 years. He loved his Bishop and First Lady and church family. He served as head of the deacon board, through the years he served as anniversary captain, Second Sunday tribe captain, a maintenance and boiler man; a mentor to young men and youth.

He loved fishing, sports, visiting his family in Florida, and had an unconditional compassionate heart and giving spirit for children, animals and everyone.

He leaves to cherish his memories, his wife, the former Josephine “JoAnn” Machen; his daughter, Diane “Tiger” Williams; his godchildren and god grandchildren, Erika Talley, Joshua, Jordan, Jahnya and Johnathan, Derrik (Teewanda) Talley, JaQuon, Breasja, Lanee, Derrik Jr., Blessing, Reuben Talley, Reuben Jr., Brendon, Kalemma, Lillian Talley-London, the newest edition, Bryce Anderson; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other family church, family and friends.

Besides his parents; 15 brothers and sisters; and his twin sons, preceded him in death.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 16, 2023, at Nevels Temple C.O.G.I.C., 939 Elm St., Youngstown. Funeral services will follow at 12 p.m.
