Fern D. Mutter Hahn Duecaster 1933-2023

SEBRING -- Fern "Ferngully" Danah Mutter Hahn Duecaster, 89, passed away Friday, Aug. 4, 2023.

She was born Nov. 13, 1933, as a fraternal twin (Ferrell) to Roy Clair Mutter and Bessie Mae Jackson Mutter of Oakwood, Va.

Notably, she worked at Southeast High School in Ravenna from 1978 to 1980 as a matron, and later at Sorbothane in Kent, and also the Salvation Army in Ravenna for many years, along with numerous factory positions in the area along her long life's Journey.

She is survived by loving daughter, Dana Hahn Sampson Miller (61) of Sebring, who is paying tribute to her mother's legacy by naming her farm her beloved mother's nickname, "Ferngully," in her honor; and long estranged granddaughter, Rachel Sampson Wizylewski (38) of Westville, Fla.; along with her three beloved great-grandchildren, Julius J. Sampson (19), Jesse T. Sampson (16) and Evalynn M. Hamilton (11 ), whom she cherished with all her heart and missed seeing so very, very much every day.

She is also survived by her remaining sisters, Olga Davis and Lydia (Hank) Coleman, both in Mansfield; so many beloved nieces, nephews and other loving family and friends along the way; and her beloved best friend, Audrey Roth, loved playing cards and scratch-offs together weekly for many many years.

She was preceded in death by her only beloved granddaughter, infant Jessica Marie Sampson; and her late husband, Harold J. Duecaster (57), both in spring 1982; and her beloved son, Gary J. Duecaster (56), lost to COVID-19 in fall 2021; her late teen brother, Jessie Mutter; her fraternal twin, Ferrell (Betty) Mutter of Oakwood, Va.; her late brothers, William Shaylor (Erna-mae) Mutter, USAF, of Grundy, Va. and Carlos (Monta) Mutter Sr. of Lake Milton; and late sisters, Wanda (Carl) Padgette of Washington, D.C. and Dallas (Herbert) Hess of Austintown.

Services will take place at 3 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 12, 2023, at Cassaday-Turkle Christian Funeral Home in Alliance, with visitation from 1 to 3 p.m. Interment will be in Highland Memorial Park.

God bless her and may she find peace resting in the arms of the angels, among all her family and friends that have gone before her.
