Darlene M. Welch 1956-2023

She was born April 1, 1956, in Youngstown, daughter to the late Philip Acitelli and Pauline Patrick Actitelli.

Before retiring to North Carolina in 2017, Darlene spent her life in northeast Ohio. She graduated from high school in 1974.

After running an in-home childcare business, Darlene enrolled in Youngstown State University and received an associate degree in drafting. She worked for the Parker-Hannifin Corp. as a computer-aided drafter in the cylinder division from 2000 to 2009.

She was a member of Old North Church in Canfield and volunteered with the Awana program. She loved to sew and quilt, all things Harry Potter, her friends and her animals. Nana was her favorite name and she enjoyed nothing more than spending time with her three grandchildren.

She was a breast cancer survivor and 15-year scleroderma warrior, volunteering at the scleroderma booth at the Canfield Fair for many years.

Darlene leaves her daughter, Jessica and son-in-law, Kevin Murphy of Stallings, N.C.; son, Eric and daughter-in-law, Meghan of Monroe, N.C.; and three grandchildren, Noah, Liam and Jane Welch. She also leaves a nephew, Daniel (Sarah) Welch; a niece, Heather (Scott) Schulte; as well as sisters-in-law, Rhonda Acitelli and Janice Welch, all of northeast Ohio.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Scott Edward Welch.

A private family service took place Monday, Aug. 7, 2023, at Gordon Funeral Service and Crematory. Her family celebrated her and rejoiced that she is in heaven with Jesus.
