Alan ‘Ben’ Bensky 1944-2023

WARREN — Alan “Ben” Bensky, 79, passed on angels’ wings to God’s eternal glory on Friday, July 21, 2023.
Alan was born July 6, 1944, in Northside Hospital, Youngstown, the son of George and Helen Hinderliter Bensky.
Alan resided in the New Middletown area until volunteering for the Army, on May 3, 1965. He went on to serve during the Vietnam war, stationed in Germany, and received an honorable discharge, April 17, 1967, from Fort Hamilton, N.Y.
Alan always spoke of his years of service with great pride, and loved his entire platoon, staying in contact with them for years afterwards.
Upon discharge, Alan relocated to Warren, and was employed by Packard Electric for 30 years, until his retirement, making many lifelong friends, who became his “family” for life.
Alan was a faithful son, brother, grandson, uncle, great-uncle, and faithful friend to all he encountered, showing generosity to his entire family, in both Mahoning and Trumbull counties.
Alan enjoyed nothing more than viewing exhibits at the Butler, attending car shows and going out to eat with friends and family. He had a love for music and being the life and center of the party. He knew how to make people laugh.
Alan always loved animals. There was never a time when there was not a kitten or two, always strays, that he so lovingly adopted. His Alice, Willard, Casey, Tinkerbell, Smokey, and many other furry bundles of love, brought him endless smiles, and laughter. They were his companions, and followed him everywhere.
Left to cherish Alan’s memory, are a twin sister, Ilene (Robert) Felger; nieces, Sherri (Dana) Byers, Terri Bartell, Tammi Sawyer and Kim Langer; nephew, David (Tracy) Hoffman; and several great-nieces and great nephews.
Alan was preceded in death by his parents, George and Helen Hinderliter Bensky; brother and sister-in-law, Richard and Marlene Felix Bensky; and a great-nephew, Kevin Jackson.
Alan leaves behind many dear, close friends, and the memory of dear friends both living and deceased, who were a continuum of love and concern, always, along with Ben’s adopted niece, Mary Kay Tsigaras Shader.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Alan’s name may be made to the Animal Welfare League, Vienna, Ohio; the Salvation Army, Warren; or the Paralyzed Veterans of America.
Special heartfelt expressions of gratitude go out to each “Rock Sta” in Alan’s journey to eternal peace.
Calling hours will be from 10 a.m. until the time of a funeral service, at 11 a.m. Friday, July 28, 2023, at The Joseph Rossi and Son Funeral Home, 457 Robbins Ave., Niles, OH 44446.
Immediately following the service, interment with full military honors will be in Pineview Memorial Park cemetery, 4049 Youngstown Road, Warren, OH 44484.
