Sophie Fiumara 1929-2023

Sophie was born June 6, 1929, the daughter of George and Katherine Theil. She lived in the Youngstown / Poland area the majority of her life, until moving to Arizona, in 2004.

Sophie worked at Truscon, as a comptometrist and at Strouss / Kaufmann’s Department Store. She was a charter member of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church.

Sophie was preceded in death by her lifelong dance partner, Anthony “Tony” Fiumara. The Penn-Ohio Polka (music / dance community) was a longtime focus of their 50-year marriage. Sophie was also preceded in death by two brothers, Chris Dimolios and George Theil; sister, Katherine Park; and son-in-law, Don Seidel.

She is survived by a daughter, Debbie Seidel of Glendale, Ariz.; two sons, Anthony (Nonie)Fiumara Jr. of Georgetown, Texas and James (Linda) Fiumara of Phoenix, Ariz.; three grandsons; a granddaughter; two great-granddaughters; a great-grandson (who shared her June 6 birthday); and two sisters-in-law, Vickie Murphy of Poland, Ohio and Jerry Dimolios of California.

A small service will be planned at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, in Poland, at a date yet to be determined.
