Joseph G. Sabatino 1943-2023

GIRARD — Joseph Gerald Sabatino, 80, born to Franklin and Catherine Chila Sabatino on Feb. 18, 1943, in Youngstown; beloved husband, father, grandfather and brother; passed away Friday, June 9, 2023. He went to rest in the presence of his dear friends and family.

Joe found great joy in his marriage to his high school sweetheart, Judith Sabatino, his devoted wife and partner in life. Together, they built a strong foundation of love and support that lasted throughout their journey. Joe’s love for Judy was evident in their unwavering commitment to each other, their marriage going strong for more than 56 years. Together they raised three children, Christine, Tobiah and Peter.

Many will remember Joe for his prowess on the track behind the wheel of various drag cars, primarily one known as The Undertaker. Joe’s garage was littered with trophies from events held across Northeast Ohio in the 1970s. In subsequent years, he would be the go-to person for repairs out of his home garage, fixing cars for many, oftentimes for little to no cost. Those who knew Joe would say that while this was something he was good at, it was not where his true passion lay.

Joe spent the greater part of his life pursuing peace, doing his best to exemplify the words of Matthew to share the good news of God’s Kingdom with all who would listen. Joe spent many hours in service to others, providing support and love to many, sharing the Bible’s message at every turn. To his last day, Joe believed wholeheartedly in the words of Revelation and the promise of a resurrection, something his family now looks forward to.

Joe is survived by his loving wife, Judith Sabatino; his children, Christine (Edward), Tobiah and Peter (Rebecca); and his brother, Frank (Elaine). He also leaves in his legacy six grandchildren, Kenan, Couin, Kayla, Jade, Harper and Calvin. In this time of mourning, let us join to support and uplift one another as we remember the remarkable life of Joe Sabatino.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 24, 2023, at the Hubbard Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 278 Jacobs Road, Hubbard, OH 44425.
