MESA, Ariz. -- Robert "Bob" A. Walley, 83 years young, passed away suddenly and unexpectedly Monday evening, April 24, 2023, at his home.
He was born May 13, 1939, in Youngstown, the son of the late Anthony Walley and Florence Severino Walley.
He was a graduate of North High School in Youngstown. Bob began his 40-plus-year career with B&B contractors at age 16, driving truck. He eventually became an operating engineer / superintendent, running construction jobs for B&B.
In addition to working for B&B Construction, Bob was self-employed, owning an excavating company and multiple storage facilities in Youngstown for more than 25 years, and was also an owner / operator of RAAW LLC. He and his wife relocated to Mesa, Ariz., in February 2019, to live near their daughter and family and begin his "retired" life.
He was a wonderful example of what having a very strong work ethic meant. He was an extremely hard worker, both physically and mentally, troubleshooting any problem on any level always making time to help anyone, anywhere, at any time. And he did this up until the day he passed. But the epitome and true purpose of his existence was his wife, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He married the love of his life, Mary Ann Saadi Walley, on Sept. 24, 1960, in Youngstown. Theirs was truly a love story to envy, beginning when Mary Ann was 13 and Bob was 15. These two started an amazing legacy of family he so proudly cherished and fiercely loved that adored and loved him back just as much. Nothing but fun, jokes, wrestling and laughter when Papa Bob / grandpa was in the "house." He's going to be missed immensely by his heartbroken family.
Besides his wife, Bob leaves behind three children, Diane (Raul) Lopez, Deborah (Les) Horvath and Robert (Jessie) Walley.
He also leaves behind grandchildren, Anthony (Abbey) Lopez, Rick Lopez, Joe (Ana) Lopez, Leslie (Naomi) Horvath, Andie (Brandon) Horvath, Rachel (Lance) Horvath Powell, Kris Stutzman, Robert (Samantha) Walley, Nick (Kara) Walley, Rocco Walley and Carmen Walley; and great-grandchildren, Cameron Lopez, Annie Lopez, Jax Lopez, Emmett Lopez, Jett Lopez, Donovan Stutzman, Taylor Stutzman, Lennon Stutzman and Robin Powell.
Bob also leaves behind his two sisters he adored and loved, Bernadette Walley and Joann Leshnack; as well as extended family members who also loved him dearly, including Kathy Walley; and many nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Dolly Mordocco.
Private family services were held at Mountain View Funeral Home and Cemetery in Mesa, Ariz.
