Charles W. Sandoe 1940-2023

BEAVER FALLS, Pa. — Charles “Chuck” William Sandoe, 82, departed this earth on Sunday, April 23, 2023, in Boardman, surrounded by his family.

Chuck was born Dec. 13, 1940, in Beaver Falls, Pa. He graduated from Beaver Falls High School and enlisted in the Navy, where he was a radar man and served in the Far East. Upon return from the Navy, Chuck attended Youngstown State University. He was employed for many years by Conrail and retired from Norfolk Southern Railroad.

Throughout the years, Chuck was an active member of the Elks, Owls and Moose clubs, as well as various veterans and other fraternal organizations. Chuck served as a member of the honor guard of the VFW until he was unable to do so in his later years.

Chuck was preceded in death by his mother, Eva Kuhar Walton; stepfather, Armand J. Walton; uncle, William Kuhar; and aunt, Emma (Kuhar) Miller.

He is survived by his daughters and stepsons, Susan Sandoe (Patrick) Abramowich of Sewickley, Pa., Abbey Lee Sandoe (Kevin) Sweitzer of Boardman, Ben (Melanie Kaufman) Kendrew of Monroeville, Pa. and Jamie (Michelle Melton) Kendrew of Harmony, Pa. Cherished by Chuck were his grandchildren, Tad Abramowich, Katie Abramowich Good, Carolyn Abramowich, Bella DeAngelis, Owen DeAngelis, Luke Kendrew, Emma Kendrew, Brandon Kendrew and Becca Kendrew. Chuck also enjoyed a special relationship with Faith Chevalier of East Liverpool and Tim DeAngelis of Boardman.

Friends will be received 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, April 27, 2023, at the Gabauer-Lutton Funeral Home, 117 Blackhawk Road, Chippewa Township, PA 15010, www.gabauefamilyfuneral homes.com, where a service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, April 28, 2023. The Rev. Ben Kendrew and the Rev. Jamie Kendrew will co-officiate.

Private interment will take place in National Cemetery of the Alleghenies.
