Thomas D. Jones Jr. 1943-2023

Tom was born June 13, 1943, in Youngstown, the son of Thomas Jones Sr. and Alice Brownlee. He was a 1962 graduate of North High School and a lifelong area resident.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served his country with honor from 1966 to 1968.

Tom worked as a truck driver for BFI for 30 years.

He was of the Methodist faith.

Tom enjoyed fishing and spending time with family, especially his grandchildren. He loved trips to the casino, weekend coffee with his friends, going to car shows and rooting on his Cleveland Browns and The Ohio State Buckeyes.

Tom was active in the community and always volunteered for various projects and organizations. He had a great sense of humor and enjoyed telling jokes. Most of all, he loved seeing people happy.

Tom will be deeply missed and always remembered by his wife, the former Janet Repko, whom he married June 7, 1980; his daughter, Melissa (Nicholas) Bury; and stepson, Kenny Szenborn, all of Boardman; grandchildren, Christina, Anthony (Emily) and Brian (Shelby) Kana; and great-grandchildren, Ava, Anthony and Nicholas Kana.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Richard D. Jones; and his sister, Donna Walker.

Per Tom’s request, private family funeral services were held Saturday, March 25, 2023, at the Wasko Funeral Home.
