John ‘Jack’ Tonkinson 1959-2023
DANIA, Fla. — John Jay “Jack” Tonkinson, 63, transitioned from his earthly efforts to his eternal reward, Monday, March 20, 2023, with his loving wife and daughter by his side.
Jack was born in Youngstown, on June 8, 1959, the son of Edward and Mary Tonkinson. He attended Sacred Heart Elementary School. He was a 1978 graduate of Campbell Memorial High School.
Jack served his country as a member of the 838 MP Co. in the Ohio National Guard before transferring to a unit in the state of Florida to complete his service. While in Florida, he met Debra, the love of his life. They were married in June 1983 in Youngstown.
Jack’s passion was sports. He was a huge fan of the St. Louis Cardinals Major League Baseball team. He spent many nights watching or listening to Cardinal games with his dad. He was also a big fan of The Ohio State Buckeyes.
Jack is survived by his wife, Debra; daughter, Angie (Mike) Bounds of Knoxville Tenn.; siblings, Ed (Melissa) Tonkinson of Salem, Karen (Tom) Noble of Chicago Ill.; Eileen (Kurt) Reyburn of Sparta, Ga.; and Michael (Kristine) Tonkinson of Little River, S.C.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents and infant brother, David Scott Tonkinson.
A celebration of life service will be planned for a future date.
