Eileen C. Shively 1931-2023

WESTLAKE — Eileen C. Reber Shively, 91, passed away Friday, March 24, 2023.

Eileen was born May 6, 1931, in Pittsburgh, the daughter of William and Margaret Hermann Reber. She grew up on the West Side of Youngstown and raised her family in Austintown.

She was a 1949 graduate of Chaney High School.

Eileen was a full-time homemaker, while proudly caring for and raising her family.

Eileen loved spending time with her family and many dear friends, especially when sharing good food and drink. She was an excellent cook, enjoyed entertaining and dining out in many fine restaurants across the country. She and her husband loved to travel, especially to YSU football games, where they were tailgating mainstays at both home and away games over many years. She was an avid sports fan, especially the Cleveland Guardians, and enjoyed all of college basketball, especially YSU men’s and women’s basketball.

She was a lover of animals, especially her feathered friends who visited her lovely backyard bird sanctuary and garden. There was also a special place in her heart for all the many, many dogs in her life.

She will be deeply missed by her husband of 59 years, Raymond J. Shively; her son, Raymond J. Shively Jr. (Mary) of North Olmsted; her sister-in-law, Elaine Shively of Austintown; her aunt, Kay Welch; and nephews, Michael and Gary Minnie.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her sister, Melva Minnie.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to The Baldwin Wallace University Chemistry Department Memorial Scholarship Fund, 275 Eastland Road, Berea, OH 44017.
