Victoria L. Castronova 1957-2023

AUSTINTOWN –Victoria Lynn “Vicki” Castronova, 65, passed away Friday evening, Feb. 10, 2023, at her home, after a long and courageous battle with T-cell lymphoma.

Vicki was born June 22, 1957, in Youngstown, the daughter of the late Morris and Carmel Virgil Ambrose. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was a 1975 graduate of Ursuline High School and received a degree in physical therapy assisting from Kent State University.

She enjoyed a long career as a physical therapist assistant, working with various local organizations. In particular, she took great pride and joy working at Leonard Kirtz School with students in the classroom, as well as during hippotherapy sessions.

Vicki was an active member of St. Joseph Church in Austintown. She practiced faithful service to the Lord by volunteering at church as a member of S.IS.T.E.R.S., C.C.D. catechist, pre-cana mentor, parish council member, and parish school life.

Vicki enjoyed time spent gardening, exercising, and entertaining with her family and friends. As a proud Italian mother, she loved making Sunday dinners, especially for her grandchildren. She belonged to the Ursuline Mother House Book Club and recently completed Livestrong at the YMCA, an accomplishment of which she was particularly proud.

Vicki leaves her husband, Patrick Castronova, whom she married Sept. 28, 1984; two sons, John P. (Kelly) Castronova and David P. Castronova; three grandchildren, Ellie, Cora and Noah; and one brother, Lenny (Lori) Ambrose, all of Austintown. She also leaves her mother-in-law, Anita Castronova of Canfield; and several in-laws, nieces and nephews.

Vicki was preceded in death by her parents, Morris and Carmel; and her father-in-law, Mike Castronova.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 18, 2023, at St. Joseph Church on New Road in Austintown. Family and friends may call from 8to 10 a.m. Saturday at the church.

Arrangements were entrusted to the Lane Funeral Homes, Austintown Chapel.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Rescue Mission of the Mahoning Valley, Leonard Kirtz School and St. Joseph Church in Austintown.

The family would like to extend gratitude to Hospice of the Valley for care and compassion in her final days.
