John E. Kosin Jr. 1966-2022

John was born Feb. 11, 1966, in Steubenville, the son of John E. Kosin Sr. and Patricia Kruise Kosin.

A 1984 graduate of Canfield High School, he continued his education at ITT Technical Institute, earning an associate degree. John was employed in the maintenance department of Spirex/Xaloy LLC for 25 years.

A Catholic by faith, John was known for his work ethic and generosity of time and talent. He was an avid Penn State fan, enjoying yearly trips with his father, brother and nephew, to cheer on the Nittany Lions.

He loved nature, spending time rappelling off the New River Gorge Bridge on bridge day, and fishing for bass and walleye. A devoted uncle to Reed, Blake and Taylor, he joined his family for vacations at Bethany Beach.

He is survived by his parents; brother, Mark and his wife, Sam Kosin; nephews, Reed and Blake Kosin; and niece, Taylor Kosin. He will be missed by several aunts and uncles, numerous cousins, as well as many friends and coworkers.

John will be laid to rest next to his grandparents in St. Michael’s Cemetery, Du Bois, Pa.

A celebration of life will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 11, 2023, at Lane Funeral Homes, Austintown Chapel.
