Jo-lene M. Kucek-Cooper 1957-2023
NEWTON FALLS — Jo-lene M. Kucek-Cooper, 65, passed away peacefully into eternal rest, Thursday Feb. 9, 2023, at St. Joseph Warren Hospital.
She was born Nov. 10, 1957, in Warren, the daughter of the late Joseph A. Kucek and Anne T. Yager Kucek.
Jo-lene lived in Newton Falls and graduated the class of 1976 from Newton Falls High School. She received her bachelor’s degree from Kent State University in 1982. She then married the love of her life, Edward James Cooper, on July 12, 1986. They enjoyed the past 36 years of marriage together with their four loving children.
Jo-lene pursued various careers, starting at General Electric, before she made the decision to be a stay-at-home mom until she went back to school to be a teacher. She taught physical education at St. Mary and St. Joseph Catholic School for a number of years. She was then employed at Kraftmaid Cabinetry for a short time until she joined the United Auto Workers Union 1112 at General Motors in Lordstown. After retirement from General Motors, she picked up where she left off in college and went back to tending bar and serving the best patrons at ITAM No. 30 in Warren.
Jo-lene enjoyed making seasonal wreaths and other crafts, riding on the back of her husband’s motorcycle and spending time with her family. She was the kindest, most understanding and generous soul.
Jo-lene was preceded in death by her parents and by one brother, Joseph Kucek.
She is survived by her husband, Edward J. Cooper of Newton Falls; two daughters, Jerrica Cooper and Dylan Fields of Warren, and Jaymie Cooper and Austin McKinney of Cincinnati; two sons, Joshua Cooper of Newton Falls and Jerrod Cooper of Niles; one sister, Joanne Kucek of Newton Falls; one brother, Jack and Janice Kucek of Canfield; and five granddogs, Benny, Millie, Greta, Harley and Pepper.
Cremation has taken place. Calling hours will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Friday, Feb. 17, 2023, at the James Funeral Home in Newton Falls. A prayer service will immediately follow at 4 p.m. Friday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Carl Kish officiating.
