Eva E. Emanuel 1931-2022

YOUNGSTOWN — Eva Elsa Emanuel, 91, entered into eternal rest, Wednesday, Nov. 30, 2022, at Omni Manor.

Eva was born April 8, 1931, in Berlin, Germany, a daughter to the late Karl and Ellen Giseman Springer. Growing up in Germany and surviving World War II, she was very proud of her roots.

Eva met the love of her life, Alfred, while he was stationed in Germany. They married in Germany on Nov. 29, 1952, and came to the United States in 1953, where they made their home in Youngstown. Eva eventually worked at Youngstown State University in food service, and later would retire from CVS in Hubbard as the store manager.

Full of energy and a bold spirit, you always knew when Eva walked into a room. Through the years she enjoyed sewing, knitting, crocheting, playing cards, traveling with her husband and making friends wherever she went. Eva was an outstanding cook and baker, and always looked forward to hosting family dinners and toasting “Prost!” She was a stranger to no one and found great purpose sharing in the successes and joys of her family.

Eva leaves to cherish her memory, her children, Henry Emanuel of Florida, Phyllis (Russell) Willrich of McDonald and Alfred (Rose) Emanuel of McDonald; a half brother, Peter, of Germany; eight grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren; and many friends, including her childhood best friends from Berlin, Gisela and Ingrid.

One day following what would’ve been their 70th wedding anniversary, Eva was finally reunited with her husband, Alfred Joseph Emanuel, who passed away May 29, 2011. She was also preceded in death by her daughter-in-law, Diana Emanuel.

“Prost” to the beautiful life you lived, Eva.

A private service was held for the family. Eva is laid to rest in Pineview Cemetery next to her husband.
