Gregory P. Ferranti 1951-2022

COLUMBUS — Gregory P. “Greg” Ferranti, 71, formerly of Youngstown, born Feb. 9, 1951, to Lawrence and Clara Ferranti, passed away peacefully Sunday, Nov. 6, 2022, after a three-year battle with cancer.

Greg was a 1969 graduate of Boardman High School. He completed his bachelor’s degree in accounting at Youngstown State University, Class of 1974.

Greg was a dedicated accountant for over 30 years, working for the Cafaro Company and retiring from Ohio Insurance Liquidation in 2012. In retirement, he passionately followed professional golf and enjoyed day trips to the casino. He loved watching Buckeyes and Browns football, and had a love for fishing and cooking that he passed onto his grandchildren. He was a generous man to his family and friends. His infectious laugh and bright smile will be missed.

He is survived by his daughter, Jennifer (Brian) Gerschutz of Bluffton, S.C.; grandchildren, Ava and Andrew Gerschutz; siblings, Gary (Heide) Ferranti of Oconomowoc, Wis., Janet Ferranti of Boardman and Lawrence Ferranti Jr. of Boardman; nephews and nieces, Ron (Daria) Spellman of Sprague, Conn., Kaitlyn (Derek) Thommesen of East Troy, Wis., Jared “JJ” Ferranti of Oconomowoc, Wis. and Luke Ferranti of Nashville, Tenn.; and special friend, Barbara Limbert of Columbus.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

A funeral Mass will be held at a later date in Youngstown, at St. Michael’s Church.
