Edward C. Bunkley Sr. 1951-2022
AUSTINTOWN — Edward Cornell “Neil” Bunkley Sr., 71, answered the Master’s call Sunday, Oct. 30, 2022.
Mr. Bunkley was born July 2, 1951, in Youngstown, a son of Curtis Cochrane and Beatrice Bunkley-White. The first-born of 13 siblings, he graduated from North High School in 1970 and started his career as a case worker for organizations like the Rescue Mission, Martin P. Joyce Juvenile Detention Center, Daybreak and the Mahoning County Children Services Board.
He leaves to cherish his memories, his beloved wife, Linda Dixon-Bunkley; his children, Dr. Latisha (David) Bunkley-Burch and Edward Bunkley Jr. of Canal Winchester, Valencia Bunkley of Warren and Emmanuel Bunkley Sr. of Youngstown; his siblings, Deborah Gray, Elizabeth (Howard) Murray, Wlliie White, Linda White, Maxine White, Beatrice White of Dayton, Bertenna White of Seattle, Wash. and Kenneth (Siesta) Cochrane, Debra Johnson Cochrane, Donnie Morris, Saud Cochrane, Omar Cochrane, and Nakebba Cochrane of Youngstown; his grandchildren, Nikayla Bunkley of Canal Winchester, Gwennell Provitt of Warren, Iyeshia Muhammed of Cleveland and Emani Bunkley, Emmanuel Bunkley Jr. and Sariah Bunkley of Youngstown; his stepdaughters, Leona Dixon and Lyesha Dixon; and stepson, Melvin Dixon Jr.; stepgrandchildren, Breona Pierce and Benjamin Dixon of Youngstown; his fur baby, Kaine Bunkley; two great-grandsons; and a host of cousins, nephews, nieces and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Curtis (Barbara) Cochrane; his mother, Beatrice (Willie) White; brothers, Gareth White and Curtis (Elizabeth) Cochrane; his first wife, Gwendolyn Bunkley-Jenkins; and several beloved aunties, uncles, cousins and friends.
Visitation will be from 2 to 3 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 9, 2022, at L. E. Black, Phillips and Holden Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 3 p.m. Due to the pandemic, guests are asked to wear masks and observe social distancing.
