Matthew G. O’Brien 1966-2022

He was born March 11, 1966, in Youngstown, the son of Alfred and Judith Johns O’Brien.

Matthew graduated from Canfield High School in 1984, then attended Youngstown State University, where he received his bachelor’s degree in education.

On Nov. 6, 1993, he married the love of his life, Diana O’Brien; they shared 28 wonderful years of marriage together.

He worked as a welder and was also a concessioner, where his specialty was “O’Brien Fries.”

Matthew enjoyed gardening, bee keeping and tapping maple trees for syrup.

Matthew is survived by his mother, Judith O’Brien; his loving wife, Diana O’Brien; his children, James Schiller and Lee (Darius) Elkin; his sister, Brenda (Doug) Christenson; and his nieces, Vicki and Molly Christenson.

He was preceded in death by his father, Alfred O’Brien.

In keeping with Matthew’s known wishes, a private celebration of life will take place at a later date.
