Dr. Norton I. German 1933-2022

WALLINGFORD, Pa. — Norton I. German, MD, 89, died Monday, Aug. 29, 2022.

Dr. German was born in New York City, a son of Aaron and Dora German.

He graduated from New York University and the Albert Einstein College of Medicine.

Dr. German served in the U.S. Army for 29 years, retiring as a colonel, serving during the wars in Korea and Vietnam.

During his 28 years in the Youngstown area, Dr. German served as pathologist and chairman of St. Elizabeth Hospital Medical Center Department of Pathology and Laboratories, president of the Mahoning Valley Pathologists Association, president of the First Ohio Chapter of the Clinical Laboratory Management Association, Youngstown State University adjunct faculty, professor at Northeastern Ohio Medical University, president of the Heritage Manor Long-Term Care and Rehabilitation Facility, Butler Institute of American Art trustee and more.

He leaves two children, a daughter, Linda Ackerman of Wallingford, Pa;, and a son, Mark of New York, N.Y.; three granddaughters; and two great-granddaughters.

His wife, Judith, died in 1998. Three brothers and three sisters are deceased.

Dr. German was buried in Riverside Cemetery in Lodi, N.J., alongside his wife.
