Robert ‘Gary’ Runyon 1942-2022

He was the son of the late Charles and Verde Rose Runyon, born in High Coal, W.Va. In 1962, Robert enlisted in the U.S. Air Force, holding many ranks and proudly serving in Vietnam.

While his children were young, they belonged to the Tri-County 4-Wheelers Rodeo, where he won many trophies.

He was an over-the-road truck driver for many years, retiring in 2001. Robert then went on to work as a security guard until he reached retirement age.

Robert had many passions — the Cleveland Browns, fishing, family time and watching his great-grandchildren’s sporting events.

Robert is survived by his wife, the former Laverne E. Wilder, whom he married April 6, 1997. He was father to five children, Kim (Tim) Schroepfer, and Kevin (Susan), Bobby, James and John Runyon, and a stepson, Samuel Ross, who blessed him with 20 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his children, James and John Runyon; a granddaughter, Tanisha Patterson; and great-granddaughter, Kiara Marie Denise Thomas.
