Charles Calderon 1954-2022

PARRISH, Fla. — Charlie Calderon, 67, passed away peacefully with his family by his side, Saturday, May 14, 2022, at Moffitt Cancer Center.

He was born Dec. 21, 1954, in Youngstown, to Higinio and Carmen Calderon. Charlie was a proud resident of Lowellville and a 1973 graduate of East High School. He married his high school sweetheart, Joyce Kiddy, on Dec. 21, 1974.

After 42 years of dedicated service to FirstEnergy, Charlie enjoyed his retirement years in sunny Florida.

Charlie is survived by his wife, Joyce; and three siblings, Mary (Victor) Cruz, Gladys (Tom) Swanson and Linda (Andy) Troche. Together, Joyce and Charlie had four children, Melissa (Pete) Febinger, Matthew (Candi) Calderon, Brittany (Jameson) Govoni and Jonathan (Kristin) Calderon. Charlie was grandfather to 10, Ryan, Carson, Mackenzie, Ava, Miller, Carmen, Cameron, Cason, Mason and Charli.

Charlie would always say his family was his hobby. From sporting events to graduation, he was an extremely devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend. Just prior to retirement, he played the part of the wise old monkey in the hit play, “The Jungle Book,” at the Youngstown Playhouse, because of his passion for Disney.

In his later years, he enjoyed traveling the world and visiting family. From European vacations and Trans-Atlantic cruises, to whistling Christmas tunes in July while shuffling his feet through the kitchen, he always displayed happiness. He was a great man known and loved by many. He lived a life of love and travel, but his favorite place on Earth to visit was always Disney World in Orlando, Fla.

Please join the Calderon family for a celebration of life from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday, July 17, 2022, at the Holy Rosary Center in Lowellville.
