Carol L. Parker-Sims 1938-2022
YOUNGSTOWN — Mrs. Carol L. Parker-Sims, 83, departed this life Tuesday, Feb. 1, 2022, surrounded by her loving family.
Carol was born in York, Ala., a daughter of George McCoy and Katherine McCoy.
Carol married Luetenner Parker of York, Ala. Several years after the passing of her first spouse, she married Edward Sims of Leeds, Ala., in Youngstown. Carol accepted Christ at an early age, at her home church, Mount Herman in York, Ala. In 1957, she relocated to Youngstown and became a member of Phillips Memorial Baptist Church and served for over 50 years in various positions. She ensured her children and grandchildren knew the importance of higher education. Mrs. Carol also known as “Mrs. C,” established her career at Youngstown Towel Supply for more than 30 years and retired as the most senior supervisor, who was known for giving generations of Youngstowners an opportunity with a job at Towel Supply.
Singing and gardening — among other things — brought her great joy. Most importantly, her greatest joy was family. Her loving and caring spirit and ways will be sorely missed by those who knew and loved her.
She leaves to cherish her memory, her loving children, Ray (Lorraine) Parker of Detroit, Mich., Edward (Dawn) Parker of Kissimmee, Fla., Maurice (Shequita) Sims of San Antonio, Texas, Christopher Sims of Cleveland, joyce Parker of Akron, Jean (Ed) Parker of Columbus and Linnette (Aaron) Parker-Joshua of Jacksonville, Fla.; her stepchildren, Edward Sims Jr. of Cincinnati and Diane Sims of Tucson, Ariz.; her siblings, Annie M. Lightfoot, Delois Joseph and Charles P. McCoy; 32 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and dear friends, including Harold Joshua, who affectionately referred to her as “Mommy.”
She was preceded in death by her parents; her spouses, Luetenner Parker and Edward Sims; her siblings, Leon McCoy, Catherine Sturdivant, Johnny McCoy, Herman McCoy, Willie McCoy, Donnie Tillman, Anna Jackson, U.C.
