David Schwartz 1954-2021

David was a true warrior. In the last year alone, David courageously defeated aggressive lymphoma and kidney cancer, only to succumb to a breakthrough COVID infection after being fully vaccinated, including a booster, but being immunocompromised. He fought incredibly hard and was absolutely convinced he could beat it, but in the end, could not overcome the infection.

He was a loving father of two very accomplished young women; a brilliant storyboard artist for animation in L.A. for 30 years, working for all of the major studios; an amazing educator loved by his students; a talented writer of novels, short stories, theatrical plays and screenplays; a humorist who was brilliant at political cartoons; and was as crazy a dog lover as his wife; but most importantly, he filled the world with laughter and endeared himself to everyone who met him.

He married his childhood love and lifelong best friend on May 11, 2018.

David was predeceased by his father, Harry, and his mother, Sylvia Finesilver Schwartz.

He leaves behind his adoring wife, Sheila Heyman-Schwartz; his two daughters, Kelly (Maxwell Feit) and Kara (Dani Espinoza-Gonzalez); his sister, Shelly (David) Schwartz-Camiener; two nieces, Rachael and Abby Camiener; a nephew, Sam Camiener; his three beloved, furry, four-legged children, Ollie, Maddie and Snoopy (aka, Doop); and a slew of friends, colleagues and students whose lives will be darker without David’s immediate presence in them.

A private, immediate family-only service will take place 1:30 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 2, 2022. It will also be livestreamed on Zoom, the information for which will be posted on the Facebook page of Sheila Heyman-Schwartz. Those who cannot get into the Zoom service after it has reached capacity will have access to a link that will lead you to the video service, which also will be posted on Sheila’s Facebook page.
