Antonette M. Stroup 1934-2022
ALLIANCE — Antonette M. Kramer Stroup, 87, passed away at 6:02 a.m. Friday, Jan. 7, 2022, at her home.
Born Sept. 29, 1934, in Pittsburgh, to James Howard and Jane Louise Rokicki Kramer, she was raised in Pittsburgh and Struthers.
A 1952 graduate of Ursuline High School, she also graduated from Kent State University in 1956 to begin her teaching career. She taught American history at Struthers High School.
She was married to David Wesley Stroup from Oct. 29, 1960, until his death, Nov. 23, 2008.
They raised their family in Ridgefield, Conn. She taught history in the Ridgefield School System and was the parish secretary for St. Elizabeth Seton Church in Ridgefield.
They relocated to Alliance in 1988. She served as president of the Regina Coeli Women’s Club, was a member of their Widows’ Club of Regina Coeli, a Eucharistic minister to the Alliance Area nursing homes, and served ice cream at nursing homes during the Alliance Carnation Festival.
She was a homemaker, avid reader and gifted gardener.
Survivors include her three daughters, Mary A. Stroup of Bethel, Conn., Janeann (David) Walker of Danbury, Conn., and Diane Stroup of Alliance; her son, David James Stroup of Alliance; and two sisters, Rita Kramer and Charlotte Kramer, both of Alliance.
Preceding her in death were her husband, David W. Stroup; and her parents.
Her Mass of Christian burial will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 11, 2022, at Regina Coeli Catholic Church, with Rev. G. David Weikart as celebrant. Burial will immediately follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
