Mary E. Carano 1937-2021
BOARDMAN — Mary E. Carano, 84, passed away Monday evening, Dec, 6, 2021, at St. Elizabeth Boardman Hospital.
Born Feb. 9, 1937, in Youngstown, Mary was the daughter of Nicola and Dale Giannini Rulli.
Mary was a 1955 graduate of East High School, where she played the clarinet and became one of the first Marching Majorettes for the school. She then attended Youngstown Community College for business. In 1977, she was secretary and treasurer for the family business, Health Environmental Loss Prevention Inc. (H.E.L.P), until 2007. She then started as president of Helpful Solutions Inc., a Women’s Business Enterprise. She finally retired in 2015, and devoted her time to enjoying her family and friends.
Mary was a member of St. Charles Borromeo Roman Catholic Church. Mary truly lived life to the fullest through simple pleasures, cooking and entertaining for friends and family, playing cards and spending time with her grandson, Jonathan, whom she affectionately called “my Jellybean.”
Mary was a member of the GoGo Girls Card Club, an avid bowler and loved football, especially the Steelers.
Mary was preceded in death by her husband, James V. Carano Sr., whom she married June 13, 1959, and who died Sept. 12, 2012. She was also preceded in death by her son, James V. Carano Jr.; and her sister, Catherine Rulli.
She leaves to cherish her memory, her son, Nick (Susan) Carano; her grandson, Jonathan Carano; her sisters, Josephine Janik, Marion Parish and Angela Rulli; her brothers, Frank (Louise) Rulli, Anthony (Karen) Rulli and Nick (Luann) Rulli; her special sister-in-law, Madeline DiRusso; and all of her nieces, nephews and cousins.
A private service was held Friday, Dec. 10, 2021, at Lane Funeral Home in Canfield.
The family wants to extend a special “thank you” to the nurses and staff at St. Elizabeth Boardman Hospital for the care and comfort given to her.
All who shared in her life will cherish the time and memories with her forever.
