James W. Veres 1947-2021

YOUNGSTOWN — James W. Veres, 74, passed away Monday evening, Nov. 29, 2021, at St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital.

James was born April 26, 1947, in Youngstown, a son of William J. and Elizabeth Rayner Veres.

Jim graduated from Boardman High School, Class of 1965, and from Youngstown State University with a bachelor’s degree in business administration. Jim was the owner of Pastime Tavern in Youngstown and a lawn service company. He was of the Protestant faith and was a member of the Penn Ohio Polka Pals.

James married Carole Chorjel in September 1999. Carole passed away July 28, 2015.

James is survived by his sister, Carol (Donald) Pedicini; a daughter, Linda Mobley; and three sons, Allyne (Denise) Richey and twins, Brett (Tammie) and Brian (Terese) Richey. He also leaves 12 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; four nephews, Don, Tim, Jason and Matthew; and several great-nieces and great-nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Carole; and his beloved companion, Brutus.

James was an organ donor. Many recipients will benefit from his gift.

Family and friends may call 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, Dec. 4, 2021, at Szabo and Sons Funeral Home, with services to follow at noon.

Private internment will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery.
