Beverly Baird 1933-2021

WILLIAMSPORT, Md. — Beverly Clouse Baird, 88, formerly of Boardman, died Saturday, Nov. 27, 2021, at Homewood Retirement Center in Williamsport, following a battle with cancer.

She was born Sept. 25, 1933, in Wilshire, to Dale and Opal Clouse.

A 1951 graduate of Wilshire High School, Beverly furthered her education with a cadet certificate from Ohio Northern University in 1953, followed by a B.S. in education in 1972 and a M.S. in education in 1985, both from Youngstown State University. She was a longtime teacher of first and third grades at Ellsworth Elementary School (Western Reserve Local Schools), retiring in 1994.

Beverly enjoyed spending time with family, traveling the world, cooking, hosting holiday get-togethers, going on cruises, playing cards / games, playing bocce with the Holy Rollers at Westminster Presbyterian Church, doing crafts, gardening and creating beauty through art. She was also the queen of the Boardman Red Hat Society (Red Bonnet Babes). Her service to Westminster included elder, deacon, Sunday school teacher, vacation Bible school teacher, Worship Committee member, book sale participant and the choir. She also made several church banners and painted the mural in the Temple Room.

Beverly was preceded in death by her husband, Robert P. Baird, and sister, Kay Acheson.

She is survived by her children, Robert D. (Christine) Baird, Diane L. (Paul) James and Bradley P. (Laurie) Baird. She was a proud grandmother to Karen (Arthur) Axelrad, Andy (Kristi) Phillips, Kevin (Tara) Baird, Cathy (Gabe) Barba, Meredith (Justin) Loncar and Nikki Baird; and a proud great-grandmother to Charlotte Barba, Stephanie Baird, Andrew Phillips, Everett Barba, Colton Baird, Ethan Axelrad, Davis Barba and Teddy Phillips.

A memorial service will be held 10:30 a.m. Monday, Dec. 13, 2021, at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 119 Stadium Drive, Youngstown, OH 44512. In consideration of the current pandemic, the family requests masks be worn.
