Barbara J. Petrosky 1939-2021

She was born Oct. 29, 1939, in Youngstown, the daughter of the late Cyril Sr. and Dorothy Guyan Tomko, and was a lifelong area resident.

A 1957 graduate of Struthers High School, Barbara retired from General Electric in Youngstown, where she worked as a press operator in the light bulb manufacturing division.

She enjoyed doing crafts and attended many craft shows in the Valley, showing and selling her talent.

Barbara was an avid sports fan, especially the Cleveland Indians and Browns. She also enjoyed taking a chance visiting the area casinos with her daughter.

Barbara was a member of Christ Our Savior Parish, St. Nicholas Church in Struthers.

She is survived by her daughter, Shannon (fiance Jason Zink) Petrosky of Struthers; siblings, Patricia (George) Sabol and Stephen (Ellen) Tomko, all of Struthers; two sisters-in-law, Wanda Tomko of Cleveland and Susan Tomko of Struthers; and by numerous nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, Barbara was preceded in death by her brothers, Cyril Tomko Jr. and Robert Tomko.

A funeral Mass will take place Saturday, Sept. 18, 2021, at 10 a.m., at Christ Our Savior Parish, St. Nicholas Church, 764 Fifth St., Struthers, OH 44471, with the Rev. Marian Babjak as celebrant.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions take the form of donations, in Barbara’s name, to The Hope Center for Cancer Care, 835 Southwestern Run, Boardman, OH 44514.
