Persayus C. Davis-May, 2011-2021

YOUNGSTOWN — Ms. Persayus Chanell Davis-May, 10, was called home Wednesday, Aug. 18, 2021, in Youngstown.

Persayus was born June 28, 2011, to Christina Chanell May and Tony Eugene Davis. She attended Wilson Elementary School and was a very loving, caring, outgoing and family-oriented child.

Persayus had a passion for dolls, TikTok, YouTube, and TT toys and dolls. She loved cooking with her mother and wanted to be just like her. She helped her mom with anything she needed and wanted to look and smell just like her.

Persayus had a very large family who loved her dearly.

She leaves to cherish her precious memory, her parents; nine brothers, Wesley May, Allen May, Antonio Davis, Elijah Davis, Cameron Sly, Julien Davis May, Tony Davis May, Ryder Davis May, Sekani Davis May, all of Youngstown; three sisters, Aaliyah May, Toni Davis and Diamond Davis, all of Youngstown; three aunts, LaCreshia May (Ahustin Harris) of Atlanta, Nakeisha (Paul) Henderson and Trina Haskins, all of Youngstown; three uncles, Benjerman Phillips, Robert Phillips and Deon Burley, all of Youngstown; grandfather, Erwin C. May Sr. of Youngstown; grandmother, Gloria Studymine of Youngstown; and godmother, Tayana (Edward) Smith, who was very involved in Persayus’ upbringing. She also leaves two nieces, Envy May and Rileigh May; two nephews, Zamere May and Khaza Dawson; one unborn niece she was very excited to meet, Zalaiah May; a host of cousins she held close to her heart; and a best friend, Ja’Mera Hall.

She was preceded in death by her grandmothers, Sherry Sellers and Mandy Davis; grandfather, Robert Ruth III; great-grandmothers, Anna Lawson and Othela May; an aunt, Symone Haskins; and uncles, Ervin May Jr. and Julien May.

A homegoing celebration will be held at noon Thursday, Aug. 26, 2021, at Jaylex Event Center, 2110 Glenwood Ave., Youngstown. The family will receive friends 3 to 5 p.m. Wednesday at James E. Washington Funeral Home, 2234 Glenwood Ave., Youngstown. The family will also receive friends one hour prior to services on Thursday at Jaylex Event Center.
